The Crumpled Paper

Author/ Writer: Arantxa Miguel Leung

There was once a girl who always thought nobody cared for her because she was abandoned by her parents. Since she was abandoned, her grandparents took care of her and gave her shelter and food. Once the girl grew older, she reached her teenage years. She went to a school and did her best until two years she failed a subject which people taught was easier for her. Her very own family misjudged her because of that. They didn't know that she was selected to be the best English speaker and best leader in her class. She chose not to tell them because it would not make sense. In the whole time she was seen as a failure. But then one day, she dropped a piece of crumpled paper from her bag when she was walking down the sidewalk.
A little girl picked it up and returned it to her.
"Excuse me miss but i think you dropped this." The girl hesitated to take it but she had no choice.
"You shouldn't have return this." The girl said. The child smiled at her and said. "This paper would go to waste if i hadn't return it. After all, it came from God's creation." The child said then left. The Girl unfolded the paper and saw that it was her certificate awarded after her band's concert. She began to think about what the child said. She imagined that she was the crumpled piece of achievement in her hands. She realized that her very own flaws can't truly hide what she was capable of. She knew that as long as you reach your dream your flaws wont be necessary. Nobody is perfect. Don't let your dreams be crushed by misunderstandings. No matter how many times you fall God will always be there to pick you up and return you to the right way.
